June 30, 2016 – River City Medical Group’s Senior Vice President of Business and Network Development – Sean Atha, MHA – has been selected to serve on the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) Medi-Cal Access Assessment Advisory Committee. This new committee is comprised of representatives from California State Senate, the California Medical Association, the California Primary Care Association, the California Association of Health Plans, UC San Francisco, Health Net, the California Healthcare Foundation and several other prominent California health care organizations.

As required by the Special Terms and Conditions (STCs) of California’s 1115 Waiver Renewal, Medi-Cal 2020, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) will contract with its External Quality Review Organization (EQRO), Health Services Advisory Group, to complete an Access assessment. The EQRO will produce and publish an initial draft and a final Access assessment report that includes a comparison of health plan network adequacy compliance across different lines of business; and recommendations in response to any systemic network adequacy issues.

The state will also establish an Advisory Committee that is tasked with providing input into the assessment structure, including network adequacy requirements and metrics, as well as provide feedback on the Access assessment structure and initial draft Access assessment report.
